Soon Nursing professionals, who are planning to take the practice in United Kingdom and Ireland, will be required to take an Occupational English Test. The Occupational English test is being offered by the Cambridge Assessment English (part of the University of Cambridge) and Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment, Australia.

The OET test will assess the language proficiency skills of the professionals from the healthcare field who wish to register and practice in overseas.

Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment Trust, a venture between Cambridge English and Box Hill Institute, Australia, owns the Occupational English Test.

Nursing and Midwifery Council, United Kingdom and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland have accepted the OET as the proof of English proficiency for the trained nurses.

“OET is a standardized English test which has been developed for this industry exclusively. The recognition and acceptance of the test in the UK and Ireland opens up a world of opportunities for the nurses seeking to work in these countries”, Cambridge Assessment English, South-Asia, Regional Director, T K Arunachalam said.
