There are 1,581 criminal cases pending against Members of Parliament and Legislative Assembly in India. Therefore, Apex Court on Wednesday gave the direction for the Center’s scheme to setup 12 fast track courts to prosecute and dispose cases against MPs and MLAs. A Bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and Navin Sinha directed the Centre to allocate Rs 7.8 crores to the states for setting up of the special courts.The High Courts shall go operational by March 1,2018 after States’ consultation, said reliable sources.
