Suggesting a best strategy to the test takers of the competitive exams is a difficult task and when the exam is CAT this task becomes even more difficult and formidable.

Like other competitive exams, CAT is also time based exam which test one’s ability to perform under pressure, its observation skills and decision making ability. In simple words CAT’s test is designed to assess logical reasoning and thinking performance.

Below are some tips which can help candidates in boosting their score in CAT 2017 exam:

Scan the paper

As soon as the exam starts take few minutes to scan through the paper and divide the paper into easy, moderate and difficult sections. After this, jump to the easy questions first. Attending easy questions first will help you in fetching the marks and will also boost your confidence for the rest of the exam.

Don’t be bias towards the question

It is very common practice among the students to pick the questions first from the topic they like the most or have a good command over. But, sometimes test designer deliberately ask questions from such areas only to trap the students and students end up spending most of the time on such questions and by the end of the exam so many easy questions are left unchecked. Sometimes easiest questions are from the hardest chapters.

Length of the question

Many students also decide easy and hard questions on the basis of length of the question. Smaller the length of the question, the easy it is to solve. Questions with lucid language generally appear hard but most of the time all the data needed to solve the question is present in the question.

Don’t pre-define the number of target questions

Do the exam to best of your abilities and make reasonable attempt in paper after analyzing the paper. Make sure to get as many questions correct as you can by optimizing the speed and accuracy and remember that there is no co-relation between the percentage and percentile scores.
