Playback singer Vani Jairam, who made her film debut with ‘Humko Man Ki Shakti Dena’ in the film Guddi and later sang more than 10,000 songs in several Indian languages, passed away in Chennai on February 4 She was 77. She was found dead in her residence on Saturday, that is why Chennai police have launched an investigation.

Born as Kala Vani on November 30, 1945, Vani Jayaram got her big break in the 1971 Hindi film Guddi.

The Government of India announced last month that Vani Jayaram, who will complete 50 years as a playback singer in 2021, will receive the Padma Bhushan award, the third-highest civilian award for her contribution to music.

In her career span over five decades, Vani Jairam had lent her voice to several songs in several languages ​​including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Assamese and Bengali. With a voice that blends effortlessly into any rasa, she has won the hearts of people across the country.
