College admissions in Rajasthan: Girls outshined the boys in enrollment

According to a report, for the academic year 2016-17, the Rajasthan has recorded highest growth of 23.23 percent in the enrollment of the girls in colleges which has outnumbered the boys.

According to a report from Department of Higher Education, of the total number of enrollments in the Rajasthan 4.67 lakh are girls and 4.65 lakh are the boys and total rise as compared to previous years is 23.23 percent.

In the academic year 2015-16, the total numbers of enrollments were 7.52 lakh of which 3.82 lakh were the boys with the growth of 4.4 percent and 3.70 lakh were the girls with the growth of 7.8 percent.

For the students, the first choice of enrollment is Arts stream as 65.37 percent of the students enrolled for the Arts (29 per cent boys and 34 per cent girls) followed by the science. Science was opted by 21.07 percent of the students (12 per cent boys and 9 per cent girls), the annual report of the department said.
