In recent years, there has been an exponential growth in the use of computers in almost every phase of our lives and education is one of them.

Digital learning is becoming a must at the foundation levels in the schools to impart more interactive learning experience for the children and in higher education it is important as it promote the distance education and off learning hours for every individual.

With the spread of electronic media in the modern academic curriculum the questions on the need of human teacher in the modern digital

classrooms are being raised. However, the increased role of the digitization in education has made teacher more central to the academic needs.

Technology felicitates the education in many ways but is not a substitute for a teacher who imparts more wholesome and education. Such education has more moral, social and emotional content and not just the contents of the course.

Here is how the digitization of education has affected the role of the teachers in education:

Learning

Strong understanding of the basic concepts and ideas forms the core of the primary education and while computer aided education helps in improving the cognitive skills, it is still teachers’ responsibility to make sure that transmission of knowledge is uniform and logical among all the children.

Teaching

Modern technology is augmenting the learning to a great extent and in some time it will also take over the administrative tasks which take up much of the teaching time and when that happens, teachers will be able to help the students in the development of non-cognitive skills like lateral thinking and problem solving.
While technology cannot substitute the teacher, it surely will redefine the role of the teacher in education.

Benefits

Increase of the technology has made the education accessible to all and even the standards of education among various institutes have narrowed down only to become more uniform.
The job of the modern day teachers now, also demand that he/she be digitally empowered so that apart from teaching the children in the schools they can do so for all the children of world.
