Indore: Press Council takes up 40 cases, disposes 21

ndore: A two-day camp of investigation committee of Press Council of India (PCI), under chairmanship of Justice CK Prasad concluded here on Tuesday. The committee did hearing of 40 cases and disposed of 21 cases. On last day the committee did hearing from 10.30am to 3pm at Residency. At the end of the camp, Justice Prasad said investigation committee of PCI did hearing of 40 different cases and disposed-off 21 cases. Prasad said of 40 cases, 25 were either from MP or neighboring states. The main objective behind conducting hearing was to maintain values of impartial and independent journalism and keep interest of journalist intact. Talking to media persons, Justice Prasad said after receiving of case before the committee concerned, parties are summoned through warrant. After completing hearing of both parties the committee sends its recommendations to all members of PCI. Then PCI sends its recommendations to state governments and concerned agencies. On this occasion members of PCI including SN Sinha, Ravindra Kumar, Prabhat Das, Amarnath, KD Chandola, Prajanand Choudhary, Rajeev Ranjan Jha and secretary of the PCI Vibha Bhargawa were present.
