Exit Polls on Himachal, Gujarat Elections Only After Dec 14 Evening: EC

The exit poll results of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 will be declared in the evening of December 14.  Election Commission said that the results will only be declared after both the states do away with the polling for the assembly elections.

A senior Election Commission functionary said that the exit polls can be telecast half-an-hour after the end of polling in all the scheduled phases.

Polling in Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017 will take place in single-phase on November 9. The polling in Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 will be held in two phases. The phase I of polling will be held on December 9. The second phase will be held on December 14. Although polling in Himachal will end on November 9, exit polls results cannot be declared till both the phases of Gujarat polls are completed.

The opinion poll survey predicted a landslide victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017, scheduled to take place in two phases on December 9 and 14, 2018. The Congress party and other parties will trail the BJP with at least 15 per cent of the votes, it stated.

The opinion poll predicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP will secure 118-134 seats in the Gujarat polls, and the Congress will manage to win somewhere between 49-61 seats. The opinion poll suggested that the BJP party will get 52 per cent of votes while Congress will finish second with nearly 37 per cent votes.

Axis My India- India Today opinion poll for Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to form a government in the state. The opinion poll stated that the party may secure 43- 47 out 67 assembly seats. It predicted that the Congress party may get 21 -25 seats.

The BJP has roped in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party chief Amit Shah, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, and MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other Union ministers to campaign for the upcoming assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh.
