CAT 2017: Record increase in the female and transgender applicants

The year, the numbers of applicants for the CAT 2017 have gone down a little. This year 2,31,067 applicants applied for the exam as opposed to 2,32,436 candidates last year.

The numbers of candidates have decreased however; there is an increase in the female applicants this year. A total number of 78,009 female applicants have applied for the exam which is increase of 1.16 percent as opposed to last year.

Transgender applicants have also gone up in numbers with 31 applicants applying this year. Last year, there were 22 transgender applicants.

With all the ups and downs going in the number of applicants under various categories, there is a decrease in numbers of applicants under PwD category. Last year 921 PwD candidates have applied for the exam and this year there are 910 such candidates.

CAT 2017 will be conducted by Lucknow in 140 different cities of the nation and admit cards for the exam have been released by the authority and will remain available for download till November 26, 2017.

The exam will be of 180 minutes and will comprise of three sections:

Section 1: verbal ability and reading comprehension
Section 2: data interpretation and logical reasoning
Section 3: quantitative ability
