AIADMK leader V K Sasikala, who’s in prison for amassing disproportionate assets, was on Friday granted a five-day parole to meet her ailing husband who recently underwent dual organ transplant.
Sasikala had on Thursday submitted an emergency parole form along with a medical certificate of her ailing husband M Natarajan.
An earlier parole application, filed October 3 by Sasikala, was rejected on the grounds of insufficient documentation.
Sasikala is serving a prison term in Bengaluru since February after the Supreme Court upheld her conviction by a special court in a disproportionate assets case.
Along with Sasikala, her relatives Ilavarasi and VN Sudhakaran are also serving four-year jail terms.
Sasikala’s husband, 74-year-old chronic liver disease patient, was stable after aseven-and-a-half hour kidney and liver transplant surgery that began late on Tuesday night, said a senior doctor at the Institute of Liver Diseases and Transplantation.
