Indore: First rank in Swachh survey further increased our responsibility: Mahajan

Indore: Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan said that achieving first rank in cleanliness survey has further increased our responsibility to maintain the title in coming years. She was addressing a meeting organised by Mahanagar Vikas Parishad, which first initiated the cleanliness drive that was later taken over out by Indore municipal corporation. Mahajan is also patron of the parishad.

She said that “The parishad is known for its work on cleanliness. Thus, it should continue the mission further.” In view of banning plastic bags below 50 microns, task of distributing environment friendly bags was appreciable, but this should be taken as a public awareness programme, she suggested. Ashok Daga, president of the parishad briefed the speaker about its forthcoming programmes. He said that the organisation would start an intense sapling plantation programme in monsoon season. Secretary of the parishad, Rajesh Agrawal suggested to take the responsibility of water recharging again. Media in charge Ramswarup Mundra informed about e-news bulletin of the parishad.

A function to be organised on arrival of Union minister Vankaiya Naidu was also discussed on the occasion. Ajay Singh Naruka, Arvind Upadhyay, Kamlesh Nachan and Rachan Gupta also gave their suggestions. Atul Jhawar from CREDAI, Neelesh Gupta from CA Association, Sanjay Mandhanya and Suresh Bansal were also present in the meeting.

‘Improve fire-fighting facility’

LS speaker Sumitra Mahajan held a meeting with top officials of the city at AICTSL office on Monday and discussed various issues. It was attended by collector P Narahari, IMC commissioner Manish Singh, IDA CEO Rakesh Singh and officials of Pollution Control Board. She said that in view of all round expansion of the city, fire fighting facility should also be set up at all corners of the city and they should be equipped with state of the art equipments. She instructed the IDA CEO to rationalise betterment charges levied on residents of IDA developed colonies. She also asked the collector to find out safer locations for cracker traders of the city
