Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday spoke about Bhartiya Janata Party’s massive victory in the Delhi Municipal Corporations polls and said that the citizens proved that EVM stood for “Every Vote Modi” as reported by the news agency ANI. Riding on Modi wave, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 182 seats in Delhi’s civic body polls while the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party was reduced to just 48 seats. The result was even worse for Congress as it finished on the third spot winning only 29 seats.

The UP Chief Minister’s EVM comment might have come as a response to the opposition parties’ allegations about the tampering of the Electronic Voting Machines. Following the BJP sweeping the UP state assembly polls by a huge margin, AAP supremo and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had claimed that the EVMS could be tampered with, with the help of bugs and had requested the Election Commission to bring back ballot boxes into practice. He had even asked the EC to use ballot boxes in the recently-concluded MCD polls.

Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath, while addressing party workers in Gorakhpur said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had put a full stop to the VIP culture in the country. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also spoke about his own administration saying that the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh had seen a transformation and it would also continue in the future. He said that the UP government had earlier urged people about the same. He added that the people who did not respect the law could leave UP and those who stay and don’t adhere to the law would be strictly dealt with.
