On Sunday, Srikanth became the first Indian and only fourth male shuttler in history to lift four Super Series titles in a calendar year when he beat Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in the men’s singles final at French Open on Sunday.

Upon his arrival in Hyderabad, Srikanth addressed the media and said he was not chasing the top ranking despite what has been a phenomenal year.

“To be frank, after the injury last year, I did not think too much about the rankings. I am not really thinking about the rankings and I want to play tournaments and do well. I don’t want to run behind rankings. All I want to do is play well in the tournaments.”

The soft-spoken Srikanth said he was determined to take it one round at a time at the French Open. “At the end, I think I did really well.”

Earlier, speaking exclusively to India Today, Srikanth had said: “I am very happy with the win and in all, it has been a fantastic last couple of weeks for me. I am very happy with the way I was playing.”
