Stating that love jihad was a reality in Kerala, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called upon the State government to take steps to control the problem.
Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the Janaraksha Yatra led by BJP State president Kummanam Rajashekharan here on Wednesday, Mr. Adityanath said that the National Investigative Agency (NIA) had found that love jihad was a reality in Kerala. Karnataka also had this problem, he said.
The U.P. Chief Minister also said that nearly a thousand people had died of fever, including chikungunya, in this State. This reflected the State of administration in Kerala, he pointed out. Referring to incidents of political violence in the State, Mr. Adityanath said that the incidents of political violence in the State should be condemned.
Most of the victims of political violence belonged to Dalit and backward communities, he said, adding that the Janaraksha Yatra led by Mr. Rajashekharan was to ensure safety for the people of Kerala. The Pinarayi Vijayan government had failed to ensure law and order in the State, he added.
Speaking at the function, Mr. Rajashekharan said that the BJP was for a politics of peace, harmony and co-existence.
