RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s younger son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav does not leave any opportunity to attack chief minister Nitish Kumar, even at personal level more often than not.
Reacting to Nitish’s comments on Monday that Tejashwi had acquired the traits of his father Lalu, the leader of opposition in the state assembly asked the CM whether his son has his traits or not. CM’s only son Nishant Kumar maintains a very low profile and is hardly seen in public life.
“Respected Nitish ji, I am proud that I have acquired my father’s traits. But you keep a hand on your heart and say whether your son has acquired your traits. Direct talk, no nonsense … I don’t want to take down my politics to such low but you also know the truth quite well. Let’s keep the secret as it is,” Tejashwi tweeted on Wednesday.
Nitish had earlier called Tejashwi a “bachcha (child)” to which Lalu had said his son was Nitish’s chacha (uncle). “He is just a child. Sometimes, he speaks loudly and becomes personal. How can he get out of the shadow and the traits acquired from his father, despite his career being rocked by him? The entire family is passing through a phase of frustration,” Nitish had said on the sidelines of his weekly Lok Samvad programme on Monday.
Lalu, later, came in defence of Tejashwi on Tuesday, saying: “Tejashwi bachcha nahi, unka chachha hai (Tejashwi is not a child but Nitish’s uncle).”
Meanwhile, the ruling JD(U) as well as BJP reacted sharply to Tejashwi’s personal remarks. JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said Tejashwi is correct in saying he has acquired Lalu’s traits as he is indulging in “dirty politics” like him.
“No one in Nitish ji’s family is connected to politics and still Tejashwi is dragging his son into this political rivalry. It is definitely Lalu’s style of politics. However, Tejashwi worked with Nitish for 18 months and he is presently the leader of opposition in Bihar assembly. Hence, it is expected from him to maintain a minimum level of dignity,” Neeraj said.
BJP functionary and state health minister Mangal Pandey also attacked Lalu family for indulging in undignified politics. “Personal attacks and undignified language is in the culture of Lalu family and RJD. Lalu and his party members are repeatedly crossing the boundary of dignity, which is spoiling politics in Bihar,” Pandey said.
