Pradyuman Thakur, the seven-year-old student of Ryan International School knew the Class XI boy well, who has been arrested by the CBI for his murder. And perhaps it was this familiarity that cost him his life.
The minor accused is said to have told members of the juvenile justice board that he used to go to piano classes with Pradyuman in the Bhondsi school and on the fateful morning of September 8, had “easily coaxed” him to go to the school’s washroom with him, where he slit his throat and killed him.
The 16-year-old boy also revealed that once he reached the school that day, he left his bag in the classroom and went to the ground floor of the building with a knife that he had brought from one of the shops at Sohna market.
Narrating the sequence of the events, the Class XI student is also said to have revealed that after he slit Pradyuman’s throat for the first time, the seven-year-old vomited blood and fell down, resulting in a deeper cut from the knife.
Reportedly, the accused has also said that he had no bloodstains on his shirt as the school bag that Pradyuman was wearing on his back acted as a shield and prevented the blood from splashing on the older boy.
The juvenile justice board members were also informed by the teenager that after killing Pradyuman, he left the knife in the washroom and ran out to inform the teachers and gardeners about Pradyuman.
He also told the board that he had an exam-phobia and wanted to get the exams postponed at “any cost”. He also admitted that due to the constant quarrels between his parents at home, he had lost interests in his studies.
Pradyuman’s parents confirmed that the class II student had been going to piano classes for the last two years.
The CBI presented the juvenile before Judicial Magistrate First Class Devender Singh on Saturday after three days of remand but since the agency did not ask for a further extension of custody, the teenager was sent to the Faridabad observation home till November 22.
While the CBI charge sheet indicates that the class XI student has admitted committing the crime, his father claims that his child is innocent. He has also alleged that the CBI is torturing his son under the pretext of interrogation.
The Class XI student of Gurugram’s Ryan school was arrested by the CBI a few days ago in connection with the murder of Pradyuman, the 7-year-old found murdered in the washroom of the school.
