Manhattan terror attack happened ‘5 blocks’ away from Priyanka Chopra’s home

At least eight people were killed and 11 injured after a man in a rented Home Depot pick-up truck mowed down civilians after driving onto a busy bicycle path near the World Trade Center memorial in Lower Manhattan area in New York City on Tuesday. Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra, who is also in New York for the shooting of her upcoming show Quantico, shared on Twitter that the attack happened just five blocks away from her home.

Condemning the attack, Priyanka said in a tweet that she could hear the ‘dreary sirens’ while driving home from work and how to her, this is a clear reminder of the state of the world right now. The attack is being dubbed as the worst in New York since 9/11. Priyanka wrote, “This happened 5 blocks from my home,As I drive back home from work,Dreary sirens remind me that this is the state of the world #nyc #peace ?.”

She also offered her condolences and wrote, “Nyc.. As resilient as ever. I❤️u. My condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy.”

The incident took place at a bike path on West Street, just a few blocks away from the World Trade Center. Apart from striking civilians, the truck also rammed into a small yellow school bus. Two children inside the bus were injured, the police said. A paintball gun and a pellet gun were also recovered from the scene.
