BJP’s high profile event in Kerala, Jan Raksha Yatra, seems to have no end to controversies as it enters its day 5. In a recent incident, a video emerged on social media which shows BJP workers shouting provocative slogans against CPI(M) leaders.

The video was shot during day 4 of yatra from Paanoor to Thaliparamba. The members at the back threatened to chop off CPI(M) district secretary P Jayarajan’s hand. Shouts of ‘Single-handed Jayarajan, you won’t have your other hand too’, were heard during the march.

Apparently, the video was shared by one of the senior BJP leaders in the state. V Muraleedharan, the former state president of BJP did a Facebook live video which clearly showed the threat call. However, BJP state president Kummanam Rajashekharan negated the allegation. It’s mere allegation and no such incident has occurred in our Yatra, he said.

Responding to the incident, CPI(M) lashed out at the BJP, alleging that the latest incident has exposed their ugly face. P Jayarajan said that the fact that the video has been shared by one of their senior leaders clearly shows their agenda of supporting violence.

P Jayarajan, one of the senior leaders in CPI(M) had earlier come under attack of RSS workers. In August 1999, a group of RSS men attacked him at his residence. P Jayrajan, who was grievously injured in the attack had to undergo years of treatment to remain alive. However there was too little that could have been done to save his right arm which was hacked and smashed badly. Now the recent video shows BJP workers threatening to chop his other hand as well.

The local police have registered a case against a group of BJP workers for inciting violence.
