Clashes have broken out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district where a Lashkar terrorist was killed in an encounter with the security forces earlier today.
The Lashkar commander, who was killed in Behibagh area of Tantrypora, has been identified as Ishfaq Padar.
Padder is learnt to have been involved in the killing of Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz in May this year. The Army launched an operation after a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in the area, a police official said. The encounter that broke out on the occasion of Eid today has led to clashes in Kulgam district and also in Anantnag.
COPS FIRE TEAR GAS SHELLS AT PROTESTERS
Locals protested against the Lashkar commander’s killing, pelting the security personnel with stones. Cops were forced to fire tear gas shells at protesters.
Mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in Shopian and Kulgam districts after the LeT terrorist was killed in Kulgam’s Tantrypora.
On Friday, the Pakistan Army violated ceasefire along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, in which a BSF jawan was killed.
