MUMBAI: Chinese actress Zhu Zhu will be visiting India for the promotions of her film Tubelight that marks her debut in the Hindi film industry. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film features the actress as a lead, opposite Salman Khan.
“Heroines have always played strong roles in my films. Zhu Zhu plays an important role in the film but we can’t talk about it. Also, she will be coming to India for promotions. But we are yet to chalk out a proper plan,” Kabir told reporters.
With films like PK and Dangal doing good business in China, Tubelight makers are also planning to release the film in the country.
“China market is different when it comes to releasing Indian films. The film has to be presented to them, they have to like it and then pass it. They have certain guidelines to release a film,” Kabir says.
He also stated that the film is an adaptation of Alejandro Gomez Monteverde’s 2015 war fantasy, Little Boy. “We have taken the germ of an idea and made it according to our sensibilities. We have made it in the context of our history.”
The much-awaited trailer of the film was released on Thursday. The movie is set in the background of a war and is Salman’s quest to bring his brother home by the sheer power of faith.
Salman plays Laxman Singh Bisht, a simple do-gooder whose brother (portrayed by Sohail Khan) is a soldier. The trailer doesn’t reveal much but it is evident that just like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the duo of Salman Khan and Kabir Khan will end with a message that brings tears to our eyes but leaves us with a smile on our face.
Tubelight marks Salman’s third collaboration with the filmmaker after Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan; both of which were blockbusters. The film also features Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo and is scheduled for Eid.
