All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja might not be playing limited-overs cricket for India, but on Friday he showed glimpses of his utility in the shortest format as he smashed six sixes in an over during an Inter-District T20 tournament match organised by Saurashtra Cricket Association at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot. Jadeja went on to score 154 off just 69 balls for Jamnagar against Amreli as his side posted mammoth 239 for 6 in 20 overs.

It was left-arm medium pacer Nilam Vamja who faced the brunt of Jadeja’s power hitting. In 15th over the Indian all-rounder hit six consecutive sixes. The 29-year-old, who was run out in the 19th over, smashed 15 boundaries and 10 sixes in his knock.

In reply, Amreli were restricted to 118 for 5 in 20 overs land thus lost the match by 121 runs. The victory earned Jamnagar four points. The tournament features sixteen teams divided into four groups. Jamnagar are slated to play their next game against Botad on Saturday.

Jadeja, just like Ravi Ashwin, has been recently picked for Tests only. The all-rounder is part of the Test squad that will take on South Africa in the three-match series. It will be interesting to see whether he will be named in the limited-overs squad or not.
